Showlight 2009

Glasgow's Old Fruitmarket

The highlight of Showlight 2009, the Conference Dinner, was held in Glasgow's Old Fruitmarket which, hidden from view in the city's cultural Merchant City next to the City Halls, forms part of Glasgow's Centre for Music.

This unique venue has kept all of its period charm, including its lofty vaulted roof (now much more watertight than back in the Victorian era!) cast iron columns and balcony. As its name suggests, this was once where you'd be more likely to find stalls of fruit and vegetables on offer than entertainment!

At Showlight 2009, 320 people enjoyed the dinner was made even more special by the good company and the now traditional changing of tables after the starter and main course, ensuring the making of many new friendships!
